Northern Courier Pipeline


Overview

The 90 km (56 mile) Northern Courier Pipeline will transport bitumen and diluent between the Fort Hills oil sands project and Fort McMurray, Alta. The route was finalized after consultation with Indigenous groups, local communities and landowners. A strong economic driver for Northern Alberta, the pipeline is expected to be operational in Q4 2017.

AER approval received in July 2014
Construction began in August 2014
Construction completed November 21, 2015, on the longest 42-inch HDD in North America

Northern Courier began engagement with stakeholders, landowners and Indigenous communities

Northern Courier filed an application with the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) to construct and operate the Project 

Q3 2014

The AER granted approval for the Project

Construction began
