We are pleased that the Northern Courier Pipeline System has commenced operations. The 90 km (56 mile) pipeline system transports bitumen and diluent between the Fort Hills mine site and Suncor Energy’s terminal located north of Fort McMurray, Alberta. The pipeline system is a critical piece of infrastructure to support the long-term plans for growth and transmission of increased production from the Alberta oil sands. The pipeline commenced transportation services in late January 2018.
Thank you to everyone who played a role in the successful completion of the Northern Courier Pipeline System and for letting TransCanada be a part of your community!
The Northern Courier Pipeline is a prime example of how TransCanada goes above and beyond to protect the environment and waterbodies. In 2016, the project was recognized for their impressive record-setting Athabasca River crossing in northern Alberta.
