What Matters to you, Matters to us

Making sure communities are engaged and respected comes naturally for us – it’s how we do business. Sharing our plans and ideas with families and supporting communities lead to better outcomes for everyone involved.

Our values of safety, integrity, responsibility and collaboration lay the foundation for how we work with one another, but most importantly, with you.

Strengthening Communities

Being a good neighbour is part of who we are and what we do. At TransCanada, we do more than just deliver the energy that millions of people across North America rely on every day. We know that long-term success depends on our ability to balance safety, profitability, and social and environmental responsibility. When we get that balance right, the communities where we operate benefit from our presence.

Our Commitment to the Economy

We truly become part of the communities where we operate, and offer affordable energy and economic benefits. Benefits like property taxes paid to local governments, investments in causes that help local communities thrive, and of course, employment opportunities.

Funding Communities through Taxes

At TransCanada, we do a whole lot more than just deliver energy – we’re happy to play a role in making communities better places to live. In 2016 alone, our operations generated $105 million in cash taxes, with an additional $555 million in local property taxes. That money goes to help communities fund everything from schools to hospitals, roads, public parks and more.

Our projects and assets support thousands of employment and contracting opportunities in order to build, operate and maintain our network of pipelines, facilities and generating plants. We’re proud to say that as of 2016, we employ more than 7,100 people in Canada, the US and Mexico.
