Careers for trades and operators

We’re up for any challenge. Are you? It takes a skilled hands-on team to safely build, run and maintain our vast oil and gas energy infrastructure network. Our field operators and trades make sure we deliver day-in and day-out to millions of North Americans who rely on us for the energy they need.

We commonly look for:

  • Mechanical technicians
  • Pipeline technicians
  • Electrical instrumentation & controls (EIC) technicians
  • Facilities technicians

Jobs are located across the North American map, in hundreds of communities where we have pipelines, natural gas storage, oil tank terminals, or power generation facilities.

Life in the field

Our field operations employees are passionate about safety and have each others’ backs 24/7. There’s never a dull moment as our people use their technical, mechanical and trouble-shooting skills to reliably operate and maintain our facilities.

Over the last seven decades, we’ve proven how our diverse workforce can deliver innovative solutions. For example, in 2017, our Canadian gas operations team took one employee’s “crazy” idea and set both a North American record and a new standard for natural gas pipeline inspections.

There’s never a dull moment. There’s always something different that makes it interesting to go to work every day.”

Shaun Macsymic, TransCanada Technician, Station 41 Ile Des Chenes, Man., Canada, Compressor Station

Safety is something that comes from the team. We're seeing our safety numbers come in better and better every year and you know, it’s zero is real.”

Tracy Robinson, TransCanada Senior Vice-President and General Manager, Canadian Natural Gas Pipelines
