Community Connections
Today you'll find our facilities spread across North America but that doesn't mean we've forgotten our history and the importance of reaching out and being a good neighbor.

We connect with our communities in many different ways; through community relations programs, sharing employee time and expertise, giving gifts in kind; and by providing financial support.
Public INVOLVEMENT

TransCanada engages regularly with our stakeholders. We share information about our plans and activities while receiving a clear indication of stakeholder views. We gain valuable insight from these discussions and use this information in our project planning, development, and operations activities.

When it comes to new projects, public involvement may involve one-on-one discussions, public presentations, or open houses with affected stakeholders. We supplement these face-to-face meetings with written materials and other forms of communication such as fact sheets, brochures, websites, e-mail, and toll-free telephone lines. Our goal is to develop projects in a manner that is publicly supported and aligned with our business objectives and values.

Public Awareness

This program helps our employees facilitate consistent, on-going communication with key community stakeholders, such as landowners, municipalities, emergency service organizations and contractors.

Our program goals include contact with:



 Directly affected landowners (landowners with TransCanada facilities on their property) and adjoining adjacent landowners (landowners whose property abuts TransCanada facilities, easements and rights-of-way) every year.


Adjacent landowners (landowners who live in close proximity to TransCanada's rights-of-way and facilities) every three years.
Municipalities every year.
Aboriginal communities every year.
Emergency responders every year.
