TransCanada, one of North America’s leading energy infrastructure companies, has proposed to build and operate a new energy generation facility – the Saddlebrook Power Station. The proposed Power Station would consist of a 350 megawatts (Nominal) Combined Cycle natural gas fired power station and would be located in the Saddlebrook Industrial Park on Secondary Highway 2A near the Hamlet of Aldersyde, in the M.D. of Foothills, Alberta. The exact location is section 31-19-28 W4M.

Throughout 2008, TransCanada undertook significant facility design work and began the environmental assessment process for the proposed facility. In addition, it continued to work towards securing all required regulatory permits as TransCanada filed a formal application with Alberta Environment and Alberta Utilities Commission for the construction and operation of the Saddlebrook Power Station.

While these preliminary activities were initially expected to be complete prior to the end of 2008, the recent market downturn has delayed plans for construction of the new generation facility.

TransCanada remains committed to moving the project forward if and when market conditions make it viable.
