The facts: coal versus natural gas - moving to a cleaner, reliable energy source
Natural gas provides a source of clean and reliable power for our homes, hospitals and schools. The Ontario Power Authority says that even with aggressive conservation measures, new electricity is needed to ensure adequate and reliable electricity supply to the Southwest Greater Toronto Area.
If approved, the Oakville Generating Station would be a clean, highly efficient, natural gas fuelled power plant. The facility would use the latest low emissions technology and be designed to a high environmental standard. The project would be designed to meet or exceed all regulatory environmental requirements and requires approval from Ontario's Ministry of the Environment prior to construction.
