Employee Giving & Volunteering

Empower

Whether it’s at the food bank, the community school, or the local wildlife reserve, TransCanada employees demonstrate year round their willingness to make a difference in the communities where they live and work. At TransCanada, we are proud of our employees and the spirit of giving they display in their personal and professional lives.

We truly believe that our employees are the company’s most important asset. So we want to support our employees and empower them to give back to their communities in ways that resonate with them personally – whether through volunteering a helping hand or making a donation to a good cause.

How Employee Giving Works at TransCanada

Empower is TransCanada’s employee volunteer engagement and giving program. It is our commitment to empowering our current employees to make an impact on the community, the company and themselves. TransCanada matches employee donations up to $1,000 per employee every year. We also help our employees find volunteer opportunities that best match their skills and passions through our pool of volunteer openings, and we match their volunteer time with financial contributions to support the causes they care about.

Employee Giving by the Numbers

With our employees leading the effort, together we can help build safe, active and vibrant communities. At TransCanada, our employees are the difference!

  • For more than 50 years, our employees have made a significant contribution to communities through United Way. In 2012, including the corporate match, our employees raised over $2.6 million for 130 United Ways across North America.
  • In addition to our annual United Way campaign, our employees gave more than $360,000 to causes in their communities last year.
  • In 2012, employees registered 1,200 hours of personal volunteer time. Through the Dollars for Doers program, TransCanada donated over $26,000 to Canadian and U.S. charities to match our employees’ volunteer commitments.

TransCanada is committed to making 2013 our best year yet! Together, we’ll take on the challenge of increasing last year’s employee giving totals.
