Gas Transport Modules (GTMs)

Gas Transport Modules (GTMs) are pressure vessels that allow for the safe, economic transport of compressed natural gas (CNG). GTMs are constructed of an inner steel liner, hoop-wrapped with our high-performance composite. Composite reinforcement allows gas to be carried at high pressure (3,000 psi) without the need for a thick, heavy steel pressure vessel.

Those in the shipping business will tell you that for most transportation projects, the goal is to transport the greatest amount of marketable product while hauling the least amount of container.

The substantial weight savings gained through composite technology make it possible to reach this goal. In the case of CNG, the use of this technology ensures that shipping costs (i.e. engine power, fuel) go to hauling gas, rather than hauling heavy containers or ancillary equipment.

By mounting GTMs on barges, ships, trucks, or railcars, natural gas can be transported to market in situations where a conventional pipeline or Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) project would be uneconomic.

Currently, the focus is on short-haul marine transport of offshore, stranded gas by barge and ship.
