Our People

TransCanada’s employee population has never been more diverse – in terms of geography, culture and expertise. Our population is becoming more varied as we gain employees through acquisition in areas where we have not traditionally operated, as well as through a changing labour market.

We have 4,000 employees in three countries, seven provinces, 31 states, and more than 240 locations across the continent.
A pool of about 1,000 in-house contractors provides additional expertise and support, enabling us to execute upon our corporate strategies and deliver consistently strong results.

We are currently hiring approximately 500 new employees per year, excluding people who join us through acquisition.

Today, the average age of our employees is about 45. However, this demographic will change significantly over the next few years, as half of our new hires are under age 35 and nearly one-third are under age 30.

The average length of service among our employees is more than 13 years and our voluntary turnover rate was approximately 4.4 per cent in 2007.  This speaks to the dedication, commitment and depth of experience in the TransCanada team.
