TransCanada recently filed its Mainline Compliance Plan with the National Energy Board. The Compliance Plan, which became effective upon filing, details the processes and mechanisms TransCanada uses to ensure compliance with the Mainline Code of Conduct.
The Mainline Code of Conduct , the NGTL Code of Conduct (the “Codes”) and FERC Order No. 690 and subsequent FERC orders (“FERC Affiliate Rules”) establish standards of conduct for our regulated companies’ interaction with affiliated companies to safeguard against improper sharing of information, people or resources, and to ensure that affiliates do not have an inappropriate advantage due to their affiliation. These standards ensure business with affiliates is conducted appropriately and transparently.
TransCanada has already implemented procedures to restrict physical and electronic access to Mainline and NGTL confidential customer information as required by the Mainline and NGTL Codes. Additionally, both Codes prohibit the disclosure of Mainline and NGTL transmission information relating to finances, operations, planning and strategy (subject to exceptions). The FERC Affiliate Rules contain similar restrictions for PNGTS and Northern Border information.
