> Gros Cacouna Receipt Point Approved

TransCanada’s Gas Transmission Northwest System, headquartered in Portland, has been operating in Oregon since 1963.
By 2015, it's expected that LNG will make up 15 per cent of the gas supply in North America. TransCanada is well positioned to connect markets to LNG.

The National Energy Board (NEB) approved TransCanada’s application to add a receipt point on our integrated system – the Canadian Mainline and the Trans Québec and Maritimes Pipeline (TQM) – to ship natural gas from the proposed Gros Cacouna liquefied natural gas (LNG) regasification terminal in Québec. The new receipt point will involve the extension of the TQM system to the LNG terminal.

The NEB also determined tolls for services would be calculated on a rolled-in basis. This means capital and operating costs of new facilities are added to the Canadian Mainline’s cost of service and recovered from all shippers on the Mainline. The receipt point will become effective if and when all the required facilities are approved and in service.

This approval is another key milestone to progress the Cacouna Energy project. In late June, the Québec government issued a decree approving the proposed LNG terminal.

The LNG facility is proposed by TransCanada and its partner Petro-Canada. Visit the Énergie Cacouna Energy website for more information about the project.
