The 2007 Canada Winter Games successfully closed in Whitehorse, Yukon thanks to 4,000 or so volunteers, staff and sponsors who braved an intense cold front and some very hectic schedules. The Canada Winter Games featured 2,649 athletes who competed in 22 sports supported by 457 coaches, 238 team managers and 239 mission staff.
TransCanada is committed to supporting important initiatives in the communities we serve and was proud to be a major sponsor of the 2007 Canada Winter Games. We were the first major sponsor committed to the games and were the Presenting Sponsor of both women’s hockey and men’s curling.
Held once every two years, alternating between summer and winter, the Canada Games represent the highest level of national competition for the next generation of national team athletes and future champions. The 2009 Canada Summer Games will be hosted by Prince Edward Island, and the next Canada Winter Games will be held in Halifax, Nova Scotia, in 2011.
