The investment community has again recognized TransCanada as a global sustainability leader. TransCanada has been named a member of the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes (DJSI) World and North America. It’s the sixth year in a row we’ve been recognized in the World Index for the sustainability of our practices in areas including corporate governance, risk management, climate change, supply chain standards and labour practices. It’s also the third year in a row we’ve been named to the Dow Jones Sustainability North America Index. TransCanada is one of nine Canadian companies on the World Index and one of 20 on DJSI North America.

The annual review of the DJSI components is based on a thorough assessment of corporate economic, environmental and social performance. Corporations are evaluated on criteria such as:

  • Climate change strategies
  • Energy consumption
  • Human resources development
  • Knowledge management
  • Stakeholder relations
  • Corporate governance

Who Uses the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes (DJSI)?

The DJSI family of indexes identifies the top companies in terms of corporate sustainability in a variety of industries. The indexes then track the financial performance of these leaders throughout the year. Asset managers around the world monitor the DJSI to help make investment decisions for a variety of mutual funds and other financial products that have a “sustainability” focus. More than US $5 billion is invested in DJSI-based investments worldwide.
