> Leading Sustainability for Five Years

TransCanada has once again been included as a member of the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes (DJSI), World and North America. This is the fifth year in a row we have been recognized in the World index for the sustainability of our practices in areas including corporate governance, risk management, climate change, supply chain standards and labour practices.

The DJSI North America was launched last year and we were included in both years. The annual review of the DJSI components is based on a thorough assessment of corporate economic, environmental and social performance.  TransCanada is one of 11 Canadian companies on the World index and one of 17 on DJSI North America.

The DJSI World index is comprised of the top 10 per cent in each industry sector of the companies that make up the Dow Jones Global Index (on a sustainability basis). The DJSI North America index begins with the 600 largest companies in North America – the top 20 per cent in each sector on a sustainability basis are chosen for the DJSI North America index.

On a sectoral basis, TransCanada is one of 16 “oil and gas” companies on the World index and one of 10 on the North American index.   We expect to receive additional information on our performance relative to other companies in our section and to the indexes in the upcoming months.
