> Alberta System - GRA Phase 2
The hearing by the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board (EUB) for the 2005 General Rate Application (GRA) Phase 2 of TransCanada's Alberta System (NOVA Gas Transmission Ltd. - NGTL) begins on October 4, 2005 in Calgary.

Background

In this application that was filed with the EUB on April 15, 2005, NGTL seeks an order fixing final 2005 rates, tolls, and charges for Alberta System services from January 1, 2005 to December 31, 2005. It also requests TransCanada be able to express contract quantities on an energy (GJ) basis, rather than the existing volumetric (103m3) basis, for all current and new export delivery services. NGTL also requests approval of minor "housekeeping" amendments to certain Rate Schedules and the General Terms and Conditions of the Tariff for the Alberta System.

NGTL filed this Application in compliance with the EUB's direction in Decision 2004-097 (NGTL's 2004 GRA Phase 2) to submit a Phase 2 application for 2005. The EUB also directed NGTL to include in the application an updated distance of haul study, an updated cost of haul study, a fully allocated cost of service study, and to address a reasonable allocation of transmission costs greater than zero to the Firm Transportation - Alberta Delivery (FT-A) rate for consideration by the EUB.

In addition to this Application, NGTL has also filed Responses to Information Requests of Interveners and Reply Evidence.
