TransCanada recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Dresser-Rand to commercialize its recently invented Supersonic Ejector technology. TransCanada sees a bright future for this invention. It is not only economic but will also make a big difference to emissions – not only from TransCanada’s compressor stations, but from pipeline and other facilities around the World.
The Supersonic Ejector catches and reclaims natural gas (methane) that leaks from dry seals in compressor stations. A greenhouse gas, the captured methane would otherwise escape to the atmosphere. The ejector system is a low cost method of reducing natural gas emissions from pipeline compressors as it consumes no energy and has minimal maintenance requirements. |
