> TransCanada recognized at Global Pipeline Awards

TransCanada’s Supersonic Ejector received a nomination for the 2007 ASME Global Pipeline Award last month. The Two-Stage Supersonic Ejector invention received an honourable mention and was selected as one of the top five projects submitted for 2007.

Hasan Imran, Community, Safety and Environment, attended the awards luncheon at the Bi-Annual Pipeline Conference in Rio de Janeiro. It is a tremendous achievement to make the “Final Five.”  A great deal of thought and work has gone into this venture, from initial design and manufacture, through testing at Didsbury, to installation at the Clearwater station on an in-service compressor unit.

The technical paper has recently been presented at the “Industrial Applications of Gas Turbines” Symposium in Banff (Oct. 15) and at the “14th Annual US Environmental Protection Agency” (Natural Gas STAR Program) in Houston (Oct. 23).  The future plan is to manufacture and test a second ejector at another (yet to be determined) compressor station in 2008.
