> Alberta System Compliance Plan Approved

On September 12, 2006, the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board (EUB) approved the NGTL Inter-Affiliate Code of Conduct Compliance Plan, which became effective immediately. "The Compliance Plan details the measures that we will use to help ensure we meet NGTLs Code of Conduct requirements," says Sean McMaster, Executive Vice-President, General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer.

The Alberta System (NGTL) Code of Conduct, along with the Mainline Code of Conduct and FERC Order No. 2004 and subsequent FERC orders, "FERC Affiliate Rules", establish standards of conduct for our regulated companies' interaction with affiliated companies to safeguard against improper sharing of information, people or resources and ensure affiliates do not have an inappropriate advantage due to their affiliation. These rules ensure business with affiliates is conducted appropriately and transparently.

TransCanada has already implemented procedures to restrict physical and electronic access to NGTL and Mainline confidential customer information as required by the NGTL and Mainline Codes. Additionally, both Codes prohibit the disclosure of NGTL and Mainline transmission information relating to finances, operations, planning and strategy (subject to exceptions). The FERC Affiliate Rules contain similar restrictions for GTN, North Baja and PNGTS information.
