Although we are unable
to provide specific details until contracts are signed,
we can share some preliminary results. As expected, most
of the market interest was focused on short-haul services.
Please check out our non-critical
notice for more specific details.
"We are pleased with the overall level of customer
interest for Mainline capacity during the Open Season",
says Craig Frew, Vice President, Gas Transmission East.
"Although there was some de-contracting earlier this
year for long-haul capacity on parts of the Mainline
System, the preliminary Open Season results reflect
the ongoing shift to short-haul contracts within the
market areas. There is no question that we are connected
to strong and growing markets in Eastern Canada and
the U.S. Northeast, which we anticipate will drive requirements
for additional capacity."
Over the next few days, we will be issuing contracts
to the successful bidders as well as reassessing the
amount of remaining unsubscribed capacity on the Mainline
System. As we will be unable to respond to the capacity
requirements of all customers who submitted bids for
this Open Season, additional Open Seasons may be considered
in the near future. Watch future issues of the Update
magazine for details.
