The oral portion of the National Energy Board’s (NEB) hearing regarding TransCanada’s Keystone Pipeline application to construct and operate the Canadian portion of the oil pipeline and convert a segment of existing natural gas pipeline to crude oil service wrapped up June 21. The NEB’s decision is expected later this year.
This is the second of two major NEB hearings for the Canadian portion of the Keystone Pipeline, which will transport crude oil from Hardisty, Alberta, to refining centres in the U.S. Midwest. The Keystone Pipeline also requires approvals from a variety of U.S. agencies at the federal, state and local levels.
