> TransCanada Operations Tops in Safety

Outstanding achievement in safe operations of our pipelines earned TransCanada an American Gas Association (AGA) Safety Achievement Award in May.

TransCanada was recognized for the lowest employee disability injury and illness rate in the very large category for natural gas transmission companies for 2005.

To receive the award, companies must achieve the lowest DART (Days Away, Restricted, or Transferred) severity rate or the greatest number of work hours without a disabling injury or illness.

“This award recognizes all our employees who are dedicated to bringing natural gas to our customers safely and reliably each day,” says Jim Baggs, vice-president, Field Operations. “We rely on all employees to maintain our strong safety performance by adopting safe practices whether working in our facilities or at home.”

Warren Peterson, flow measurement specialist, Asset Reliability, also received an Operating Section Award of Merit for technical contributions, outstanding leadership and continued service to the safe transmission of natural gas in North America.

TransCanada has increased our participation in the AGA in the last few years, focusing on developing industry standards in areas that directly affect TransCanada and our customers.

For more information about TransCanada’s involvement in the AGA, contact Warren Peterson at 403.920.5882 or visit the AGA website.
