>TransCanada Makes Top 100 Most Sustainable Corporations List
Most Sustainable Corporations

For a second year in a row, TransCanada has been named to the Global 100 – a list of the world’s top 100 sustainable corporations. The list recognizes corporations that demonstrate a better ability than their industry peers to manage environmental, social and governance risks and opportunities.

The Global 100 is a project of Canadian-based Corporate Knights Inc., in partnership with Innovest Strategic Value Advisors Inc., a research firm specializing in analyzing drivers of risk and shareholder value. Recognizing the importance of social, environmental and governance factors on financial performance and long-term sustainability, the project identifies corporations that are industry leaders in managing these issues.

TransCanada was honoured along with only two other Canadian companies - Nexen Inc. and Royal Bank of Canada. Other energy and utilities corporations named to the 2008 list are OMV AG (Austria), Royal Dutch Shell PLC (UK), Saipem (Italy) and Neste Oil Corporation (Finland).

This is the fourth year that The Global 100 has been announced. Launched in 2005, the annual Global 100 is unveiled each year at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
