Mainline New Capacity Open Season

TransCanada is currently receiving bids for new capacity to and from all points on the Canadian Mainline. This binding New Capacity Open Season follows the coordinated, non-binding Open Season that TransCanada held in the fall of 2007. The non-binding Open Season included TransCanada’s wholly or partially owned entities – the Canadian Mainline, ANR Pipeline Company (ANR), ANR Storage Company, Great Lakes Gas Transmission (GLGT) and Portland Natural Gas Transmission System (PNGTS).

The non-binding Open Season sought input and expressions of interest from customers for existing and new transportation capacity, as well as storage capacity, to enhance the ability of growing markets in the Northeastern U.S. and Eastern Canada to access supply from major basins in North America. The objective is to provide customers with a variety of coordinated transportation and storage options to acquire supply, including new supply from the U.S. Rockies and Midcontinent shale plays, on a cost-effective and timely basis.

The coordinated non-binding open season was a success, with TransCanada and our affiliates receiving expressions of interest for over 1.5 Bcf/day of capacity. As a result of expressions of interest for Canadian Mainline capacity at interconnecting points such as Farwell and Deward, TransCanada is also currently receiving bids for points on the GLGT system as receipt and/or delivery points on the Canadian Mainline.

TransCanada will coordinate the outcome of our New Capacity Open Season with the outcome of the activities currently underway by ANR Pipeline Company, ANR Storage Company, GLGT and PNGTS. TransCanada's U.S.-based affiliates have different transportation access procedures which allows them to go straight from the non-binding Open Season to precedent agreements with customers. As a result, their pipelines are currently in direct discussions with customers to negotiate binding agreements.

To participate in the New Capacity Open Season please submit a completed bid form by fax to TransCanada’s Mainline Contracting Department at 403.920.2343. Bids must be received by TransCanada no later than 3 p.m. MDT on April 15, 2008. If you have any questions about this New Capacity Open Season or any other questions related to services on the Canadian Mainline, please contact your Mainline Sales & Marketing representative.
